The coordinating Committee of Nanomed Spain accepted the adhesion of TecnATox on the Spanish nanomedicine platform, also called Nanomed Spain. The Platform is committed to work as efficiently as possible with the available resources to consolidate the good position of Spain in this emerging area, where it is located in the leading group at an international level.

HEALS (Health and Environmet-wide Associations based on Large population Surveys) has recently launched the 7th issue of the HEALS newsletter. This issue is about: an article that reveals the risks of prenatal exposures to bisphenol A and the dynamics of metabolic reactivation, using a PBPK modeling at pregnancy; the funciton of an open platform elaborated by HEALS; the numerous documents and data files currently available in this online platform designed for external training; a paper on the human exposure to organophosphate and pyrethroid pesticides, specifically in occupationally-exposed and general populations living in rural and urban areas.

Prof. Teresa Colomina, director of Neurotoxicology, Psichopharmacology and Behavioral Science area, has been awarded as distinguished professor.

TecnATox practiced two field investigations in the vicinity of Besòs incinerator in 2014 and 2017. These studies pointed to an increased risk of cancer in inhabited areas near the plant, the that more waste burns in Catalonia with about 400,000 tons per year. The concern that caused in neighboring neighborhoods, with some 56,000 neighbors, impacted on the platform Aire Net, which has denounced before the Prosecutor alleged illegalities to hide the pollution that blames the plant. The alarm has forced the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona (AMB) and the City Council of the capital -owners of the public company Tersa, which manages the installation- to commission new studies.
