TecnATox applied for the "Knowledge Industry Grants for 2019" of the "Agency for Management of University and Research Grants - AGAUR". This programme is divided into two modalities: Modality A. LLavor and Modality B. Producte. We presented one proposal to each modality, which have been successfully granted:

TECNANO - Innovative TEChnology to quantify in-situ NANO- and microplastics (Modality A. LLavor)

INSPECTION - IN Situ device for Pollutants dEteCTion In cOntiNuos (Modality B. Producte)

#URVGoals is an audiovisual project for scientific divulgation in line with the Sustainable Development Goals for the United Nations in 2030.

Dr. Roberta Carafa, post-doc of the Ecotoxicology Area, was recently interviewed in the framework of the Goal 14: Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources. You can watch the full video here.

 

Last Friday, we left the lab quite earlier than usual for a social meeting. The annual calçotada is already a consolidated social event of our group. We strongly think that sharing time outside the lab is crucial for a good working environment and, consequently, to be successful in our research.

David Ventura successfully defended his doctoral thesis on 21st February 2020 in the Faculty of Education and Psychology, Universitat Rovira i Virgili. He obtained the maximum qualification Excellent Cum Laude.

Title: "Evaluació de un programa de entrenamiento basado en Mindfulness: Efectos psicológicos, neuropsicológicos y emocionales" (Evaluation of a training program based on Mindfulness: Psychological, Neuropsychological and emotional effects).

Supervisors: Dr. Paloma Vicens and Dr. Luis Heredia

The publication "Dual-drug loaded nanoparticles of Epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG)/Ascorbic acid enhance therapeutic efficacy of EGCG in a APPswe/PS1dE9 Alzheimer's disease mice model", whose co-author is Dr. Jaume Folch, has been selected for the George Heller JCR Best Paper award.

TecnATox, in collaboration with ISGlobal and CSIC-IDAEA, have recently initiated the project AiguaBCN: The first map of the quality of tap water in Barcelona, funded by the programme Barcelona Ciència.

AiguaBCN will build a map of the emerging pollutants concentrations in tap water and will assess the potential health effects.
