Toxic chemicals in textiles: an emerging hazard and research area of TecnATox

Prof. Domingo has been recently interviewed by SINC La Ciencia es Noticia (Science is news) and La Vanguardia. The reason of such interview was the last TecnATox research focused on the occurrence of toxic chemical compounds in clothes and related human health risks.

The textile industry uses toxic compounds affecting the environment, but also the health of such industry workers. Recent studies indicate that depending on the use and kind of clothes, consumers might suffer more than just a cutaneous allergy. New project funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities

The Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities has just communicated the provisional resolution of the I+D+i "Retos de investigación" ("Research challenges") of the State program of I+D+i adressed to the society challenges corresponding to the call of 2018.

After 8 months of evaluation process, the proposal entitled "Sources, exposure and human health risks of classic and emerging flame retardants in indoor environments of Spain. Integrated approach of human health risk." presented by Prof. Marta Schuhmacher (IP) has been proposed to be funded.

EuroMix final consortium meeting

EuroMix project is arriving to the end. Dr. Vikas Kumar, Dr. Margarita Torrente, Neus González and Elga Schreiber will attend to the final consortium meeting. It will be held in Egmond aan Zee from April 9th to 11th 2019.

EuroMix ( has been a joint effort of 22 European partners and 4 non-EU affiliated partners aimed at delivering a mixture test strategy and test instruments using novel techniques as recently proposed by the Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission. TecnATox has been actively involved in the project, participating in animal experimentation studies, PBPK modeling, exposure assessment and risk evaluation.

TecnATox will attend to the 29th annual meeting of the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC Europe)

Presentation of Test Barcelona-2 and the Online Neuropsychological Workstation

The presentation of Test Barcelona-2 and the Online Neuropsychological Workstation will take place in Barcelona (Mar Teaching Unit, 80 Dr. Aiguader) on May 16th and 17th 2019. The workshop "Neuropsychological exploration: technological and conceptual advances" focuses on the impact of advances in cognitive neuroscience and Internet technologies in the neuropsychological clinic, and specifically in the new version of the Barcelona Test.

In the framwork of this event, Dr. Margarita Torrente, codirector of Neuropsychology and emotions area of TecnATox, will perform a presentation entitled: "The scale of daily life activities of Test Barcelona". You can find the full program here.
